Honking on the road at 8:30 pm

It’s going to be 8:30 pm and I am honking at this hour of the evening while on my way back from work. It’s embarrassing but I cannot help it. I have to horn or else the other person is driving his vehicle in such a manner as if the whole road belongs to him. I don’t want to do it but if I don’t honk there is a full chance of collision. Well if one becomes fire its better for the other one to become water. There is a saying “prevention is better than cure” and so be it. What more can I say when there is discrepancies amongst vehicle then better not comment for human being. What more to expect when an educated and a civilized person behaves this way, then we are in no state to blame the uneducated. I am prepared with my answers if ever the traffic police stop me during such hours of the night for honking.

It’s funny but I see these vehicles plying on the roads as humans. I imagine the big vehicles like the Prados, Land Cruisers, Santa Fee, Tucson and so many big cars whose names I am still not aware of as the Dons of the road while other less small vehicles like the today’s Creta, the Vitara, the Brazzer etc as the mothers and the smaller vehicles besides these as the children. In between these forget about the two wheelers. The Dons don’t even seem to notice the existence of the two wheelers. It’s like when these Dons are moving on the road then all the other vehicles are invisible to them. They won’t see us but we have to make sure that we see them and we got to stay aside or else we don’t want to be the victim of their crush. I picture all these scenarios.

Transportation has increased in the recent years. What used to be travelling by horses has now been replaced with motor vehicles. No hard feelings here but this is my personal view. A vehicle can go a long way if we know how to take care of it and treat it like as a part of us. I feel my small car like my sister. Had it not been for some idiots who scractched my vehicle, my small sweet car is my friendly companion. I am very thankful to her for I don’t have to go about requesting to others when I am in need of vehicle. I can drive my very own sweet small vehicle anytime. Atleast thanks to those hard days of learning to drive and also a very big token of thanks to my mother who was my sponsor then to fund my driving classes. 😊 It was a 3 months course and I remember I had to prepare myself for the upcoming RCSC then, I would have to go for my lawn tennis classes, then the new addition driving classes. I found the best possible economic way of learning to drive and after having requested with the instructor I fitted myself amidst a bunch of what we call in Bhutan as taxi drivers. Now you can very well imagine the environment where there was only one girl and all were boys. I was still a teenager then, not like now…and I used to make sure to wear long shirt, loose pants and of course make sure the shirts were not transparent and the pants not tight. Well those were the moments…I took a month’s class both theory and practical. Adjusting so many things in a day was rather challenging but there is a saying that we should always look for positivity in any situation. It was summer time when I learnt driving. Theory and practical classes would be at two different locations. Well of course I had to travel from one location to another but in the end thinking in a positive way it was a kind of exercise. Somehow, coming back to our topic, it is very important to learn to drive in today’s time and it has become a must. Back then it was required but the requirement and the demand has become more in today’s time.

So coming back to my talk of people driving as if the whole road belongs to them which is pretty annoying. And we are compelled to honk at them irrespective of what time of the day it is. I have even encountered those times where even honking would not help and I had to literally pull down my side window and shout at the driver. I think it should be the responsibility of every citizen to drive with carefulness. I am pretty sure it does not cost a penny even to just change the dipper with a click of your finger. Then why not! Are we that lazy to risk the lives of others and while doing so you are risking your own life yourself. I see different people while I am driving. Some are there who gets confidence by blasting on music, while some are there who loves to drive at high speed; there are meat carrying mini trucks I think make more than one time trip between Thimphu and Phuentsholing, I seriously feel for all. Well feel in the sense like why is it that people don’t realize the fact that they are not alone in the world. Ok the status might be single but you have so many near and dear ones you should think of. You might die but what about them, what about those who love you and does not have to be your girlfriend or boyfriend. Well think for them and atleast think about the many different lives you’ve got to take before you actually get blessed to take this human form. Be blessed and feel fortunate to get a life where you can make it more beautiful than you can think of.
